Economic Health Monitoring Protocol
The Economic Health Monitoring Protocol (
215 KB) will provide information on the viability of the Yukon placer mining industry and on the Regime's impact on industry health.
The key challenge is to determine whether changes in placer industry viability can be attributed to the new Regime.
Economic health monitoring will be a two-step process. The first step involves identifying a trend through analysis of available data. The second step involves a process for determining if the identified trend is attributable to the regulatory regime.
Reporting on the data will be done on an annual basis. Options for action include:
- Observe & document
- Revise or enhance monitoring
- Modify standards and/or management practices through adaptive management process
- Support development of new technology
