Consultation Plan

The Fish Habitat Management System consultation process included First Nations, mandated boards, stakeholders and other interested parties, and the public.

The consultation took place in three phases to ensure enough time was provided for the public to learn about the proposed System, considered it and provided input.

  • Phase 1  The Phase 1 meetings were best described as Information meetings.  During this phase, the Secretariat presented key concepts and information to Yukoners.
  • Phase 2  The Phase 2 meetings were called Consultation meetings because the Secretariat hoped to obtain the majority of public input during this phase.  At Consultation meetings, the Secretariat presented more detailed information on the System and gathered input.  Detailed information was provided and made available in advance of the Phase 2 meetings.  Meetings to obtain Traditional and Local Knowledge were also likely be incorporated during Phase 2.
  • Phase 3  The Phase 3 meetings were the Final Review meetings.  At this stage, the Secretariat reviewed how previous input was incorporated, explain why some input was not incorporated, and provided a final opportunity for input.
