Consultations

Teslin consultation meeting,
September 27, 2006

The Secretariat is responsible for undertaking
meaningful information and consultation
sessions with First Nations, mandated boards,
stakeholders and other interested parties,
and the public.

The Purpose of the consultation is:

  • To ensure that First Nations, mandated boards, stakeholders and other interested parties, and the public are provided with information about the differences between the existing Yukon Placer Authorization (YPA) and the proposed Regime
  • To ensure that information on the Regime is available in various formats and at various levels of complexity
  • To ensure that First Nations, mandated boards, stakeholders and other interested parties, and the public have an opportunity to provide input on the proposed Regime before its implementation
  • To ensure that the placer industry is informed and can provide input on the potential changes to permitting, licensing and operating their placer operations.

At the conclusion of the consultation, the Secretariat will compile and make public a report on the proceedings. This will include a summary of what input was provided, what input was and was not incorporated, and why.
